New Rally Bar Found

My big black doorman, Tre, pale white redheaded Kevin and I went to Sister To Sister down on the southside.

Not the whiteside.

The hood.

Not a bad time. Got a couple looks when we went in, but all was well. Friendly people and good times.

Webster's 1913 Dictionary

Substitute "team(s)" for kings or rulers and you get the picture.
Think of the Steel Curtain Steeler teams back in the day. What with players jumping teams every other season, the Pats stand out and can be included in that definition.

Can you say Dynasty?

Boo Yaa. 41-27. New England.

First the Sox and the World Series. Now New England is back for the 3rd time in four years. Too bad there's no hockey. Then again that may be asking too much of the sporting gods.

15" of White Loving (for hire by hour)

Thats the tally for Wrigleyville. 15". Wowzer. Sure am glad I have a cover and not some rindky dink plastic bag. Then again the bike does come in and I was a little slack about that.
15" of Whiteness

So the offical tally in Wrigleyville was 15". I figure thats almost right here too, give or take. By far the most snow I've seen since 2000 after my birthday at the Bears/Pats game. Started snowing about halftime and didn't stop till the next morning/early afternoon.

Fucking sucks when you have to shovel your way to the garbage. Course I'll miss this when I'm in Cali. Maybe.
Part-time employees of America won a major victory today

I almost laughed beer out my nose. Kinda like the Onion.
I shoulda bought more beer and burritos

Wow, a shit-load o snow has come upon us. Forecast was for 6"-9", with 1"-3" lake effect thru tomorrow afternoon. Got home after 11 (1/2 hour slog in 2-3" covered sidewalks from Division, no way was I gonna hop on the bike and get my ass run over) and shoveled a couple inches off the steps and now I look and see it all came back (1:45am).

Great, so my saturday off is fucked to hell. God damn weather is kicking us all in our collective asses wherever we may be. Hurricanes in Floriduh, slide in LA, uh, I know theres more but I forget. Whats next, locusts and plagues?

Oh yeah, if you're around Division and Damen, check out Picante Taqueria. Cheap, veggie friendly, and usually open after last call at Foot. Got the chipotle chicken burrito, whoo boy. Smokey and spicy and yummy. Can't wait to see what kind of poop it makes. The white boy tacos are good too.

Hope yer scoots covered otherwise happy digging.

Shit-tacular Weather

I now know how to post via email That was the the test crap the other day.

Tuesday I spent the better part of the nite (6-7 hours) outside at work in teen degrees and wind gusts up to the 20s mph if I may guess. Then it got really crappy. Snow. I sweep/shovel away the shit and not even five minutes later the shit is piled up again.

On the way home I almost dump more than once just getting down the steet cause nothing is plowed so I stop at Foot to wait out the snow till I'm plowed.

Oh yeah, Liars and Exit on Monday nite. Don't remember too much right now.

Maybe a horseshoe isn't all that lucky

Final at Foxboro: 20-3. Sweet.

Sorry Peyton, I'm glad to see you representing the good 'ol SEC, but you forgot to take your head out of yer ass before the game.

Really, I was quite nervous before this game. Two field goals by the Pats didn't instill much confidence either. But the second half was all New England.

Next week, the Steelers at Heinz. Uggh, maybe I'll have to go back on the wagon this week to help them out.
Where did that horse go?

Well, went to Foot last nite around 12:30ish. Quite busy. Haven't had a drink in two weeks and promptly ordered a shot of Jager and a PBR.

Holy crap. Where's the horse that shit in my mouth?

Now I remember why it took so long to start drinking. Beer tastes like shit. Took over an hour to down two beers.

Oh well, all down hill from here. But in moderation though. Can't wait for Monday, Cleos and Liars. You hear that Chad, LIARS CLUB!!! $1 PBRs Beeyotches.

What to do with a bICICLE?
Ah, day one of 3 days off. Awoke at the crack of noon. Cold as hell out still. Teen highs. Maybe break 20 by Monday. Yippee skippee.

So that rain the other day and subsequent cold has completely frozen the bike (not the scoot, that's covered, you think of trying that Chad?). Now I have an idea what Chad goes through with his scoot. Cables are frozen in the lines, both brake and shifter. The gears are too, mainly in the shifter arm. Brake levers, not working. Saddle, heh heh, FROZEN SOLID. So much for gel technology and comfort.

So I'm gonna bring it in for an hour or so. Gotta run some errands and grab some lunch, and I'd rather freeze and be a little warm on the bike than freeze waiting for the bus or walking down the street. Took only one winter to figure that out. People at work think I'm crazy when I ride, and I think it's stupid to freeze waiting for a bus or train. I can literally get to work in the amount of time it takes to just wait for a bus.

Craptactular Weather

What a crappy week (or so) of weather.

Almost a foot of snow last week then rain and sleet on Monday nite, for which I was the only one who rode out to the Frog (damn karaoke and 9-5 worker drones). Chad had "issues" with the scoot, big surprise, and was being chauffeured around by Melissa. Mr "I like Frog, you can talk there" (because there isn't anybody there to talk to/with!) drove as well.

So with the absence of MerryMac we abandoned the Frog and I rode up to Delilahs. Fun ride, sleet and rain pelting the bare face, a simple reminder of having to get a new helmet. D's was ok, haven't been there in ages. Not the same when you're not drinking. If you're not gonna drink or don't drink, there's no need to go there.

Wow, 50's on Wednesday and rain. Yipee. Coolest thing was standing at the front door at work and seeing a wall of rain headed east on the street right towards the hotel. Weirdest thing I've seen since that time back home when it was pouring in the backyard and clear in the front.

Woke to freezing rain and rode bike to El in sleet. Nothing but rain downtown, eventually turning to sleet then snow. In the 20's on way home and sure enough, fucking lock on bike was frozen. Motherfucker. And that lock de-icer crap you use on car door locks doesn't work for shit. $1.10 for coffee again.

Gonna be a cold-ass weekend. Teen highs and single digit lows. Hope Chad can get his scoot running for a Cold Weather Challenge ride. Off three days in a row again and gonna need to get out of the house, at least until the Pats-Indy game. Oh yeah, and kickin this wagon ride to the curb come midnight Saturday.

Hear that, that was my cherry

Well, 2 weeks into the New Year and a week sober and I still have no desire to do shit. Oh well, one more week on the Wagon.

In the meantime, this will be a start. Seems since I left good ole' G-ville I haven't been very good with keeping in touch with those I called friends. This hit me when I looked at my X-mas card list: Dad, Uncle and cousins, and Great Aunt. Oh yeah, and S&S out in Cali (sorry). Pretty fuckin sad.

Email is easy (so what's my excuse) but there is just something about good old mail. Like the packages that I would send to friends in college and other parts as well as receive. Typed or handwritten letters, clippings from the local paper (or porn mag), flyers from shows that I missed and would curse those who went as well as those I would look forward to. Etcetera etcetera.

Maybe I'm just old school (or just old). But I miss the tactile feel and smell of a package from someone, it lessens the distance and makes it personal. Maybe this will help.
